•                            8th Grade Health

This year each 8th-grade homeroom will have health during either the second or third trimester. We use the BOE approved Children's Health Market: Great Body Shop health education material. Scholastic Choices articles are used to supplement lessons.

Units: Health Advocacy and Service, Lifetime Skills and Values, Substance Abuse Prevention, Disease and Illness Prevention, Nutrition and Fitness, Growth/Development and Human Relationships

8th Grade Health: Community Service Project

All 8th-grade students will be required to complete a minimum of one hour of community service during the trimester in which they have health class. Students will be given a parent letter that outlines the 8th-grade community service project requirement. The project selected must be approved by a parent/guardian and Mrs. Bulger. Parental assistance and support reinforce that helping others in need ultimately benefits everyone's physical, mental, emotional and social health.

Class of 2021 Community Service Challenge

All 8th-grade students are encouraged to keep a record of any and all service that they complete during the school year. At graduation, the Class of 2021 will be recognized for all of their community service. Reports are not required for additional community service work. Students need only to record basic information on their service log.
