            Costa Rica is one of the most affluent countries in Central America. Visitors enjoy its beautiful sandy beaches on the Caribbean coast, supporting Costa Rican economy, which is mainly based on flourishing tourism. The richness of fauna and flora of the Costa Rican tropical forests is amazing, and it is among most diverse worldwide. Glorious tropical orchids grow there in more than 1,000 varieties, and the tropical birds, including exotic toucans and beautiful, bright colored macaws, come in more than 800 species.
           Costa Rican president, Oscar Arias, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1987 for his achievement to end two civil wars in the region. At present, his goal is to develop the economy and introduce the reforms that would distinguish Costa Rica among Latin American nations, as well as to eliminate the abuse of power and the corruption of the government.
